It was a great stay. I love staying at the Westin Galleria. Convenient to the Galleria, wonderful maid service Lee the conceriege, found my bag, saw my name on it, found me in the directory and promptly found me to return my bag. That is worth 5 stars!!!! Parking attendant Maha was GREAT!! exceptionally helpful locating my car. I do not walk well because of recent back surgery. It was late and the Galleria was closed. I exited by foot at the wrong side of the Galleria. I had parked at the Westin, not the Westin Oaks. He saw my difficulty and told me he would help. He departed to help me by going to the correct garage. He found my car and brought it to me and saved me many steps!!! I am not sure I would have made it without his help. He would not take a tip! He is a valuable employee!!

Great Location and Hotel; Parking Could be Better

As I usually do when I write a review of a Marriott location, I want to say upfront that I’m a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite Member. That basically means that I stay at least 75 nights a year in a Marriott. Technically I’ve stayed over 100 nights per year in 2022 and 2023, but I don’t qualify for Ambassador Elite since I haven’t ever met the annual money spend ($23,000) for that level. I doubt I ever will. I’ve also only ever stayed at a handful of Westin properties, usually preferring to stay at Towneplace Suites or Courtyards, for example. I spent nearly the entire last week of 2023 at this hotel between Christmas and New Year’s. I just wanted to unwind, see a Bowl Game and an NBA Game, and enjoy the end of 2023. That I did! tl;dr: Location Great, Galleria is Great, Parking not so Great Pros: 1. Location is absolutely fantastic (well, except for the traffic around the Galleria, but YMMV; after Christmas traffic was a bit insane). The hotel is connected to the Galleria on the 3rd floor of the hotel. Right next to that exit into the Galleria is The Cheesecake Factory. If you’re like me and have no control, you’ll be ordering at least one cheesecake slice to take back to your room every day of your stay! Besides that, there is also a Starbucks right outside the entrance to the Galleria from the hotel. They let you use the app (it’ll say Starbucks Galleria 2nd Floor on the app; there’s another Starbucks on the 1st Floor on the other side of the Galleria), so you can set your order before leaving your room and have it ready when you get to the store. Speaking of food, there are a handful of nice restaurants in the Galleria, and there is also a Food Court on the bottom floor that has nearly everything type of “fast” food you could want. Quick tip: every food choice was busy with long lines except for Firehouse Subs. I could get in and out of that place in just a few minutes without having to wait in line. There were a lot of Subs in my belly as well as burgers from Shake Shack which was usually open an hour later than the Food Court on some days (check before you go). Also if you like walking a mall for exercise or just generally people-watching, The Galleria is one of the best places to do either or both. It has an ice rink on the bottom floor for kids and adult kids, and I would venture that people who say that malls are dying would not include The Galleria as a place that is dying. It has to have well over 90% occupancy. 2. Views of Houston are very nice up on high. I was automatically upgraded to a Junior Corner Suite on one of the higher floors that had large floor to ceiling windows. 3. Amazing service from the staff. From the moment I arrived to my checkout 5 days later, every interaction I had with the staff was amazing. 4. For long hotel stays (I was staying for 5 days/4 nights), I usually bring my own food to heat up just in case (I had some leftover Christmas dinner for my first night, for example). The rooms don’t have microwaves (they do have small fridges), but you can ask the front desk to have housekeeping bring you a microwave. I’ve not had that done before so nice to know that was an option. I had a lot of room in my particular room, so there was plenty of space for the microwave. Cons: 1. Parking - Self Parking is freely available, but it’s in the Blue Garage which is obviously shared with The Galleria. The main portion of the hotel starts on the 2nd Floor. The 1st Floor is just the entrance to the hotel (and hotel’s fitness area) and the Galleria from the top floor of the Blue Garage (it’s underground). There is Westin-designated parking in one row just outside the Galleria entrance into the garage with warning signs that unauthorized cars will be booted and/or towed but apparently that is NOT enforced. The parking attendants in the garage directing traffic know that so tell anyone they can park there. I was lucky enough to park there every night of my stay, but it made me a bit paranoid to leave the property in my vehicle knowing that there was a chance I wouldn’t be able to park so close. The other issue about parking down there: the entrance into the Galleria/Hotel from the parking garage had a small grouping of stairs, no ramp or elevator. Not sure how that would work if you can’t navigate stairs for whatever reason (I was told by the Front Desk that Valet Service is free if you have a Handicap Placard so parking in the Garage may not be an issue if you have one and use the Valet). Also a pain with rolling luggage. Honestly, if I could take a half-star off for this review, I would for the Parking. At the very least enforce the Westin-designated parking spots. 2. No Concierge Lounge for various levels of Marriott Bonvoy members - I was a little disappointed about this for a Westin property, but I was told that they are opening one in the hotel sometime in 2024. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will probably seek it out again if I decide to stay near The Houston Galleria again.

As a Titanium Member I rcvd a $12 voucher for breakfast. There was NOTHING on the menu for that amount, I spent over $50!! The rooms were wonderful and Garrett was extremely friendly and thorough. I would have given them five stars but the breakfast was a total turn off. Westin do better.
